How do I stop getting hanger marks in shirts?

My husband has a ton of golf shirts, and when they hang for a prolonged time, they get those dorky little bumps in the shoulder where the hanger has stretched them out. If they are not bad, the iron will make them go away, but if they are really big, i have to re-wash the shirt. Does anyone know how I can stop this from happening?
