Washing in cold water, and adding vinegar to the rinse water will prevent bleeding!
Put out fifteen buckets and wash them in each bucket OR you can wash one at a time?
I would wash them Only with the same colors for the first wash. If you can’t for some reason, use the cold water setting to minimize bleeding.
Add a healthy amount of salt. It helps keep colors from bleeding.
Read the laundry instructions on the label and follow the instructions. Most likely as long as you do not add bleach of any kind and wash them in cold water they will not bleed. They should be what is called colorfast.
Simple. Seperate darker blues, blacks, reds, and other dark colors into piles. Seperate more bright, colorful colors into one pile and the whites into the last pile. Wash them seperately, and wash in larger loads with like colors.
Wash dark colours separately…Grey, Black, Blue
Wash light colours separately Yellow, Green, Pink etc
Wash Reds separately as they have a real tendency to bleed into all colours.
Happy Washing!!!
really the only way is hand washing them first. (not the best idea takes forever.) i suppose you could separate the colored clothing put dark colors together and light colors together, and reds set aside to be washed alone because they bleed the worst.
But the only way to be sure is hand washing them the first time (will also prevent future bleeding/fading) I know sounds crazy.
hope this helped. good luck
Just use cold water for the wash and rinse cycle and you should be ok.
I always wash new clothes together and never had a problem. The thing is to watch the very dark colors such as navy and to know the quality. It is usually the low quality items that cause problems. You can do a test by placing each in a clean sink of water separately with a tiny bit of soap and swish a little. The color if it is going to bleed will quickly start to color the sink water and you will know that they will need washed separately the first couple of times. Plus, I always wash my clothes with cold water. It saves from this problem, and saves energy. The clothes usually get just as clean. I only use warm to hot water for overly stained clothing. Use a gentle detergent free of excess chemicals. Should be a clear detergent.
Dear Braga,
Shout makes a product called Shout Color Catchers. They’re small sheets (much like dryer sheets) that you throw in with your load of laundry that help absorb colors before they bleed onto other garments; they cost about $5 for a pack. I always use color catchers when I buy new shirts and have to wash them with other things. I would suggest using two or three for a load of all new polos, and make sure you wash it on the cold-cold or cold-warm cycle (hot wash cycles will fade the colors).
