How do I get the odour from my husbands tee shirts?

Agony Aunt asked:

My husband does shower daily - but sweats profusely. He uses deodrant and now shaves his armpits to try and get rid of the smell of sweat. I’m distraught - recently I’ve noticed that his tee shirts stink - even after washing them. I daren’t use hotter water than 60 - but does anyone know of anything that will get rid of the smell from his tee shirts. He does wear fresh every day.

    Two things to try:

1.Add white vinegar to the wash cycle along with your detergent.
    or
    2. Add borax to the wash cycle along with your detergent.

I add a cup of Arm and Hammer washing soda to the laundry this time of year.
I think its pretty much the same thing as Baking soda. Seems to work great. I discovered this when my daughter was very young, She used to spit up often, and I could never get the smell out. Till some one mentioned this to me. I buy it at wall mart, and assume you could but it almost anywhere. Good Luck!!!!!!!!

The temperature of the water won’t make much of a difference. Try putting a cup or two of white vinegar into the wash water. You can also use liquid fabric softener with Fabreeze, which will help, too. Plus using those dryer sheets also helps.

Mix one cup of baking soda in with his tshirts in small washer load of hot water. Turn the washer off as soon as the water mixes the baking soda in good. Let the load sit for 1/2 hr to 45 minutes. Turn the washer back on and finish the cycle. Wash again in cold water, only this time use your favorite detergent and softener. Works really well.. Baking soda absorbs all the not so sweet smellinig stuff.

I do recommend washing them in a cup of vinegar in the wash load, rinse twice so that he doesn’t have a chemical reaction, then laundry as usual
